England win the nerve-wrecked opening Ashes Test on Sunday at Trent Bridge beating Australia by 14 runs, courtesy Decision Review System.
James Anderson, England hero and the ‘man-of-the-match’ broke the final partnership between Brad Haddin and James Pattinson at the last moment as the pair was taking Australia to the near victory.
Brad Haddin (71) was given not out to a caught off Anderson by umpire Aleem Dar, but after England’s appeal for review decision, he was given out after inspecting hotspot replay.
Australia had to chase down 137 runs in the final day with four wickets in hand. Anderson took five wickets in the second innings and total 10 in the first test. He took all four wickets in the final day.
Wonder boy Ashton Agar who scored roaring 98 in the first innings, did not able to repeat his performance in the second innings. He made 14.
England 1-0 up in the five-match series. The second Test will begin on 18th at Lord’s.
