In what is arguably the fiercest London derby the blues came out on top for the 6th consecutive premier league game which means that the gunners haven’t got the better of the blues in the league for the past 3 seasons.
There was an early twist when Per Mertesacker went for an early shower after bringing Diego Costa down when he was about to be one on one with the Goalkeeper.
The Brazilian came back to haunt the gunners 6 minutes after Arsenal were down to 10 storming through 3 defenders and converting Branislav Ivanovic’s cross into the back of the net.

Arsene Wenger’s men, down to 10, were hapless in the first half without their target man Olivier Giroud who was taken off as a defensive precaution for Gabriel Paulista.
Despite being outnumbered, Arsenal created a clear cut chance thanks to Ozil’s loop which left Mathieu Flamini in at the clear but the Frenchman squandered the oppurtunity by opting for a in conventional shot when a header seemed easier. That was the last kick of the ball in the first half.
Arsenal had their own fair share of possession and chances in a frantic, end-to-end game, but the odds were stacked against them with a man light despite the welcome return of Alexis Sanchez.
Defeat to the defending champions means that the North London side are 3 points behind league leaders Leciester and level on points with Manchester City.
