It was yet another disappointing result for Arsene Wenger at the Emirates when his boys eked out a draw against Manchester City on Saturday. The match ended with both the teams locked at 1-1 after 90 minutes. There were chances for both the sides but neither could capitalize on those and hence such an outcome.
However the match lacked dullness, much to surprise of the fans on and off the stadium. It was tough as players from either side denied to give away even an inch. Manchester City opened the scoring within the first fifteen minutes of the kick-off, getting off to a great start. The goal was scored almost in the same fashion as they have done against Manchester united. This time Dzeko hit the post and Silva put it into the back of the net of the rebound. The first half ended with City leading 1-0. But arsenal was slowly looking to take control of the match as they had one goal ruled out rightly because of off-side.
The Gunners took this momentum into the second half and they equalized within 10 minutes of the restart. Flamini was the scorer as this time he stayed on-side to side-foot the ball over the line beyond the reach of goalkeeper Joe Hart. But just when it seemed that the teams will go for the kill, the players chose to play the game with a safety-first policy. Though there were chances, the scoreline got restricted to 1-goal each. Players began to lose their temper as there were quite a good number of yellow cards at the end of the match.
With this result neither of the team is benefited. City, who are still in touching distance of table topper Chelsea, failed to reduce the margin and take advantage of the Chelsea’s loss earlier in the day. Arsenal, on the other hand, missed the opportunity to get back strongly into the title contention.
