Alonso to extend contract with Real

All speculations finally came to an end once Xabi Alonso made sure that he is going to extend his relationship with the Spanish giants. Reports suggest that Alonso has somewhat agreed to a two-year extension to his contract that has kept him in this club since leaving Liverpool few years back. In fact, rumours were spread that Alonso was desperate to find a new destination after having played for Real for few years.

Xabi Alonso, who has become one of the best playmakers in the world in recent times, will be out of contract after the end of the season. So English Premier League clubs like Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool were showing their interest in this midfielder. Speculations were raised that Alonso might look for a move to Manchester City where former Real manager Manuel Pellegrini is currently at the helm. However after what Alonso said on his twitter account all the clubs who were planning for a big transfer will be a bit disappointed. Alonso twitted, “This will be my home for another two years. I’m delighted to share this with you. I’m very, very happy. Hala Madrid!”. Thus any possibilities of re-union with any of the former Real Madrid managers can be ruled out after such a tweet from Alonso.
