No sooner the punishment sentence of 5 years was pronounced, than Salman Khan`s bail plea made itself a place on courtroom desk and got passed by the Bombay High Court. The interim bail has been granted just for 2 days after long arguments presented by Salman`s lawyers.
Senior lawyer Harish Salve who was arguing from Salman`s side pleaded for a bail, saying, “Cannot put someone in jail without the order. Please give time till day after. We have only received the operative part of the order.” This plea was taken into consideration by the High Court and the decision was taken.
It was finally decided by HC to give the actor time till the day after tomorrow before he is taken in custody. Khan was found guilty today in 2002 hit-and-run car crash and the Mumbai Sessions Court said it in a clear-cut way to Salman, “You were driving the car without a license and you were under the influence of alcohol.”
This was because earlier the role switching was done and his driver was accused of killing 1 and injuring 4 homeless men in the accident. Session court judge DW Deshpande told that all the charges, including the culpable homicide were proved, which further leads to 10 years jail punishment. But, Salman`s lawyer asked to shorten the period using Salman`s philanthropic nature as a strong weapon. He said that Salman has already given Rs 19 lakhs as compensation to the victims and is ready to give even more.
