In a shocking revelation terrorist-turned-approver David Headley told the Mumbai Sessions Court that Hafiz Saeed, the chief of Jama’at-ud-Da’wah (JuD) wanted to teach late Shiv Sena chief, Bala Saheb Thackeray a lesson and to complete this task Headley had sought six months.
Deposing before a Mumbai court via video link through US, Headley, on the fourth day said that he had visited the Sena Bhavan and the residence of Thackeray to do a surveillance where he met some of the guards at the gates of the perimeter of his residence. He also claimed to have done the surveillance of the CBI headquarters and Maharashtra Assembly.
Headley told the court that Lakhvi introduced him to Muzammil Bhatt in 2006 as a top commander of LeT and told him that he had done Akshardham and Ishrat Jahan cases.
Headley, on Saturday, claimed that the NIA had recorded his statements in different words than what he claims he told them. He said he couldn’t explain why NIA had not recorded his statements in the exact words and claimed that they never read out that statement to him after recording. He claimed on Saturday, that he never told the NIA that Lakhvi sarcastically told him that Muzammil was a top commander, whose operations were a failure. He, however, claims to have disclosed to the NIA about a women’s wing in LeT headed by Mother of Abu Aiman.
Abdul Wahab Khan, the lawyer of Sayed Zabiuddin Ansari alias Abu Jundal, one of the prime accused in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack is cross-examining Headley and Special Public Prosecutor in the case Ujjwal Nikam is also present.
