Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi returned to his Delhi residence after a nearly two-month long ‘sabbatical’.
His flight arrived in Delhi at 11:15 am on Thursday. He was on a Thai Airways flight from Bangkok. After landing, he quickly hopped inside his vehicle and went to his residence at 12, Tughlaq Lane in Central Delhi. He was escorted by his security personnel and drove straight to his house.
He did not wait to interact with the waiting media and did not answer any questions. He did not wait to clarify his absence of 2 months too. Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra were at his residence to receive him.
The flight came from Bangkok, but some reports claim that he had only moved through the Thai capital and was either in Vietnam or Yangon (in Myanmar). Earlier reports had suggested that Rahul was in Europe, Bhutan, Uttarakhand among other places.
Many Congress workers celebrated his return by bursting crackers outside his house. After Priyanka left, the mother-son duo discussed a few issues. At 1:30 pm, both of them left for Sonia’s residence 10, Janpath. The party said that Gandhi had requested for ‘some time to reflect on recent events and the future course for the party’.
Rahul has returned in time for the Congress’s planned mega farmers rally (Kisan-Khet Mazdoor Rally) in Delhi scheduled on April 19. Rahul Gandhi may address this rally.
