Congress President Sonia Gandhi promised dishearten party workers that the party will bounce back and she will lead the party from the front.
“I will lead the party in its revival, lead from the front,” Sonia Gandhi said at a rally in Raebareli .
“You have to take a vow that as long as you don’t restore the aan, baan, 
shaan (pride and prestige) of the Congress, we will not stop,” she said.
Defending Congress’s poll debacle, Sonia Gandhi said, “There would definitely have been some reasons. Some things have come before us and I am looking into them and would also take steps to redress them.”
“The Congress did good work in the ten years but we could not take it properly among the people… Issues like inflation and corruption were magnified by the opposition and our voice got drowned,” she said.
“We will have to work with renewed vigour… Wherever the Congressmen are whether in the vidhan sabhas, nagar nigams, nagar palikas or nagar panchayat they will have to raise the issues concerning the people… The path is difficult but we will have to tread on it through hard work… We have faith that we will achieve our goal”, she told party workers.
Sonia Gandhi also assured party workers that Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will continue work in Rae Bareli.
“She (Priyanka) had worked with you here and will continue to walk with you in future also,” she remarked.
Congress had done its worst ever performance in the Lok Sabha polls in which party only managed to win 44 seats.
