US Secretary of State John Kerry has called External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj last night and discussed how to “re-energise” India-US bilateral ties.
“Re-energising Relations! Sushma Swaraj and John Kerry discuss re-energising the strategic partnership in (their) first talk (sic),” Syed Akbaruddin, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson, tweeted on Thursday.
While Kerry told Swaraj the need to improve trade and economic ties between the two countries, Sushma Swaraj responded by saying that India always gives importance to strengthening the strategic partnership. Swaraj also informed Kerry about India’s recent meeting with SAARC countries.
Akbaruddin told IANS that John Kerry congratulated Sushma Swaraj and BJP for their electoral victory and both the leaders were looking forward to meet each other.
