The Torrential rain and floods devastated a large part of Uttarakhand with killing over 100 and leaving more than 71,000 pilgrims stranded. Many more are reported missing.
The pilgrims of Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri and Yamunotri are trapped in Rudraprayag, Chamoli and Uttarkashi districts in Uttarakhand.
The rescue operations are heavily hampered due to continuous rain and met department has predicted heavy rain for the next 24 hours. Till Wednesday morning over 500 people has been rescued. National Disaster Response Force is working non-stop along with Indian army to save lives. However huge landslide hampering rescue operations.
The Kedarnath shrine has submerged by floods and mudslides. Over 6,000 pilgrims were stranded in Kedarnath. The famous Shiva Idol in Rishikesh also submerged by flood. Rudraprayag was worst hit and the damages are unimaginable.
70 houses in Uttarkashi were washed away by flood. 40 hotels alongside the banks of the Alaknanda River washed away in the water.
