In protest of split the state of Andhra Pradesh and creation of separate Telengana state, 15 legislators from Seemandhra (Rayalaseema and Andhra) including 8 Congress MLAs have resigned from their posts on Thursday.
On Tuesday Congress Working Committee cleared the formation of Telengala statehood.
The anti-Telengana protests continue in several parts of Andhra for the last two days and demand of roll back its decision is growing. However Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde on Thursday ruled out any possibility of withdraw the decision.
“The situation is under control and there is no scope for reconsideration of Telengana decision,” Shinde said.
“Earlier states were created on linguistic lines, but now I don’t think that can be the basis of state creation. We are aware of Seemandhra protests, but party has decided,” he added.
