The Supreme Court on Monday extended its earlier order of restraining the Italian Ambassador Daniele Mancini from leaving India till April 2, when the matter will again come up before the court.
The Supreme Court has asked the Indian authorities to take appropriate actions to prevent Italian ambassador’s exit from the country.
Supreme Court today came heavily on Italian ambassador for violating an undertaking given to the bench.
When the councilor of Daniele Mancini said that he enjoys complete immunity under the Vienna Convention, the bench comprising Chief Justice Altamas Kabir, Justice A R Dave and Justice Vikramajit Sen said that the court would not accept and does not believe the Ambassador’s statement as he had lost trust of the court.
“You have lost our trust,” the bench said.
The bench also said that a contempt of court charge would be issued if the ambassador fails to return back two marines who are charged with the killing of two Indian fishermen last year, by March 22.
