The Supreme Court of India has issued a notice to the Italian Ambassador Daniele Mancini on Thursday stating that he should not leave the country without its prior permission. The order comes in the wake of Italy’s refusal to return two marines to face trial in India. The Ambassador had given a written undertaking that two marines would return to India by March 22 after voting in the general election in Italy.
Italy on Monday said that it would not send back its two marines who are charged with the killing of two Indian fishermen last year.
A bench comprising Chief Justice Altamas Kabir, Justice A R Dave and Justice Vikramajit Sen has also issued notice to the said marines Massimiliano Lattore and Salvatore Girone.
