Sonia Gandhi may back Manmohan Singh for third term

According to the reports Congress President Sonia Gandhi will back Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for the third term in 2014 general election.  

Congress party on Tuesday rejected General Secretary Digvijaya Singh’s comments on dual power centre model in the centre.

“The relationship between Sonia Gandhi and the PM is a model for the future. The party will decide at a later time who will lead the 2014 election campaign. Manmohan Singh is the leader now and everyone accepts him,” said Congress leader Janardhan Dwivedi

Digvijaya Singh recently said that the twin power ssystem did not work for the party and he pitched for Rahul Gandhi prime ministerial candidature in 2014 general elections.

“I feel this model hasn’t worked very well. There should not be two power centres. I think whoever is the prime minister must have the authority to function,” Digvijaya Singh had said.

If sources are correct then the next Lok Sabha elections in 2014 will be a battle between Manmohan Singh and Narendra Modi, not Rahul Gandhi vs Narendra Modi.
