Echoing former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit’s vision, two Congress MLAs has came out in support of BJP government in Delhi.
Although the Congress party officially said that they want a fresh polls and they will not let BJP to form the government in Delhi, but it seems that the party MLAs have different views altogether.
Mateen Ahmad and Asif Mohammad Khan, MLAs from Seelampur and Okhla, have supported Dikshit’s views. Even Chandni Chowk MLA Prahlad Singh Sahani had said he agreed with Dikshit.
“All those who are demanding that Dikshit be thrown out of the Congress for her remarks must take action against me too. They must throw me also out of the party as I am supporting her views. What is wrong in her remarks. There is nothing wrong in what Sheila Dikshit has said. BJP should form the government if they have the numbers,” said Ahmad.
In her remarks Dikshit said, “In a democracy, elected governments are always good as they represent the people” and “if the BJP has reached such a situation that it can form government, it is good for Delhi,” adding, “it is yet to be seen how a government is formed and what challenges will be there for a minority government.”
However, after receiving falk from her party she retracted from her earlier statement and said she did not say that BJP should form the government.
“I never said BJP should form Delhi government. All I said was that if they have numbers they should form the government,” She said.
Meanwhile, the BJP claimed that six AAP MLAs have approached them with support.
Delhi BJP chief Satish Upadhyaya said, “We have been saying from the start that none of the MLAs, irrespective of the political party, wants election in the state. We will just put a burden of Rs 1,000 crore on the state exchequer. What Sheila Dikshit said yesterday was from her experience. Though we have ideological differences, we respect what she has said. If Congress MLAs agree with her, then it is good for the state,” Upadhyaya said.
The single largest party BJP has 29 MLAs out of total 67. Supreme Court has set out October 10 deadline for Delhi government formation.
