Cornered Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has hit back at BJP leader Subramanian Swamy for claiming that he knew who killed Sunanda Pushkar.
“Who is he? If he knows the murderer let him tell the police,” Tharoor asked.
Replying to Tharoor, Swamy said, “I never said I knew the murderer, I always said Tharoor knows who the murderer is.”
Last week, Swamy claimed, “Tharoor did not kill her, but he knows who killed her and facilitated her killing. He told lies and tried to cover up.”
He also told ANI, “I don’t talk without evidences, when the time comes I will tell all.”
Visibly agitated former union minister Sashi Tharoor found himself in controversial position as many evidences are kept coming up, pointing towards Sunanda Pushkar’s mysterious death. Former minister’s wife was found dead a year ago in a five-star hotel in Delhi.
In January this year Delhi police lodged an FIR against “unknown persons” who killed Sunanda Pushkar and formed a SIT to investigate the case.
Veteran journalist and Sunanda Pushkar’s close friend Nalini Singh gave a statement to police, stating Sunanda’s knowledge on Tharoor’s affair with Pakistani journalist Mehr Tarar and couple’s constant fights.
Tharoor’s domestic help, Narayan Singh was also interrogated and he gave some leads in the case. As per Narayan one “Sunil Saheb” visited Sunanda Pushkar at Hotel Leela Palace two days prior to her mysterious death. This unidentified ‘Sunil Sahab’ helped Sunanda tweet and ‘copy’ some messages.
In his statement to the police, Narayan also said that Sunanda phoned Tharoor and informed him that he was “finished” as she had revealed everything to the media.
Meanwhile in an interview with NDTV, Delhi Police chief BS Bassi hinted that Shashi Tharoor could be called up to be questioned in “next few days”. He also denied Tharoor allegations that Delhi police is trying to framing Tharoor.
