A Mumbai court on Monday found the accused security guard Sajjad Ahmed Pathan guilty in the advocate Pallavi Purkayastha murder case.
The 25-yearold Mumbai advocate was allegedly killed in her house by Sajjad Ahmed Pathan, the security guard of the building in 2012. The police had arrested Sajjad within 24 hours after the chilling incident got notified.
In its argument the prosecution alleged that Sajjad was furious after Pallavi Purkayastha confronted him for staring at her. According to the prosecution on the night of August 9 Sajjad repeatedly switched off power supply to her flat so that she would ask for his assistance. When she called him for help, he arrived with an electrician and stole her door keys. He later came to the flat once again when Pallavi was sleeping. He allegedly first tried to rape her but when she retaliated he allegedly killed her with a knife.
The police caught him before he ran away to his original home in Jammu and Kashmir.
