The second accused in the heinous Mumbai gangrape case was arrested on Friday night. The Mumbai crime branch is now hunting for three more accused. The first accused had reportedly confessed the crime. Police yet to reveal the name of those five accused, however they have released the sketches of all accused on Friday.
Five men had allegedly raped 23-year-old journalist when she went to take some pictures of one isolated mill in Central Mumbai along with her male colleague. Five men- all around 20s- raped the photojournalist while her male colleague was gagged and bound and beaten up.
Doctors of Jaslok Hopsital have said that the victim is out of danger and stable now.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra Home Minister RR Patil made another controversial remark and came under attack from every quarter. He proposed that police will give protection to those women who are working in isolated places.
“We accept the demands made by journalists and will fast-track the hearing once the investigation is over. Female journalists often have to visit unsafe locations for assignments,” Patil said.
Congress MP Milind Deora criticised Patil’s suggestion and said he should concentrate on improving the policing system.
“Patil made a very bizarre statement. As the Maharashtra Home Minister, he should stay focused on improving police force and sensitising them and he should be giving out a strong message through the police that we mean business,” Deora told CNN-IBN.
“I feel terrible and shame. I will leave no stone unturned to ensure that this thing never happens again. There should be no politics on these issues,” Deora added.
