The Samajwadi Party has again try to defend their MLAs foreign ‘study tour’ by lashing out at media. Senior SP leader Azam Khan who was also the member of the group, said, the study tour was a major achievement of Uttar Pradesh government and it is also pride for India.
“Media is harassing UP MLA delegation on tour. Reports of SP ministers on shopping sprees are false,” Azam Khan said adding, “Use of such disgraceful language is an aspersion on our media.”
“The manner in which women journalists are chasing the delegation and creating an ugly situation by pushing and asking questions in an undignified manner has stunned the people of countries being visited because there is no question for such behaviour in these countries,” he added.
Hitting out at TV channels, Khan said, “Some channels have shown photographs of members of the delegation carrying bags gifted by the Chairman of the City Council with books, while telecasting it as if the members were shopping in Amsterdam.”
The Akhilesh Yadav government’s decision of sending 17 MLAs to gala foreign tour in the backdrop of continuous sufferings of homeless thousands Muzaffarnagar riot victims in cold winter has been a subject to strong criticism across the country. The party has even under fire for its extravagant spending on ‘Saifai Mahotsav’ in Mulayam Singh Yadav’s native village.
