Rajnath Singh announces BJP’s new Parliamentary team

 Rajnath Singh has announced Bharatiya Janata Party’s new team which will lead the upcoming general election in 2014 on Sunday. 76 people have found their name in the panel including Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, former Gujarat home minister and Modi associate Amit Shah, Varun Gandhi, Uma Bharti and Smriti Irani.

The new team includes 12 Vice Presidents, 10 General Secretaries, 15 Secretaries, 7 spokespersons, 12 Central Parliamentary Board, 19 Central Election Committee and 5 Central Disciplinary Committee.

12-member central parliamentary board included Narendra Modi after six years. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan was however dropped from the new panel.

Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi and Smriti Irani elevated to the vice precedential post along with Uma Bharti.

Varun Gandhi has been made a general secretary.

“The new team is perfect and balanced. This team will unfurl the flag of victory for BJP in the next Lok Sabha elections,” Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said.

BJP leader Vinay Katiyar meanwhile criticised the party for Varun’s promotion as general secretary of the party.  “His biggest credential is his surname. Gandhi magic works in BJP as well,” Katiyar said.
