Preparations done to welcome President Obama

Security in the capital has been tightened ahead of President Obama’s visit. Police officials have been deployed in heavy numbers in the capital. The flight Air Force One, carrying President Obama and his wife Michelle Obama, is expected to land in the capital by 10am. Preparations to welcome the US President and his wife, at Palam airport, are done.

From the airport, the President will be heading to hotel Maurya Sheraton, where he will be staying for three days. Security has also been beefed up outside the hotel and preparations have been done to welcome the President and his wife.

President Obama will be going to Rajghat to pay homage to Mahatma Gandhi, and by 2 in the noon, he’ll be having bi-lateral discussions with Prime Minister Modi, at the Hyderabad House, before meeting and dinning with President Pranab Mukherjee, later today.

This is President Obama’s second visit in India and is expected to be a historic visit. The last time he had come was in 2010. Discussion on several crucial issues is to take place between President Obama and Prime Minister Modi.

“This is a momentous visit, it is high both in terms of symbolism & substance,” Syed Akbaruddin, spokesperson of Ministry of Externa Affairs, told ANI.  He added, “You can expect a very historic visit of President Obama in India, can assure you that outcome will be historic.”
