Finance Minister and UPA’s presidential candidate Pranab Mukherjee will resign on June 26. It was earlier said that he will step down on 24th June.
Pranab Mukherjee took charge as the finance minister in 2009. He is all set to become India’s next president. The presidential poll will be held on July 19 and Pranab Mukherjee is up against veteran politician and former speaker of Lok Sabha P. A. Sangma.
Currently India is struggling with economical growth and inflation. India needs a strong finance minister who can boldly recommend and take policy making decision. As there is no immediate successor been announced, it is expected that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh himself will take over the finance portfolio for a while before any new minister take oath.
