Police reveals Prime CCTV footage in the Chennai blasts

Investigators got a breakthrough in Guwahati Express twin blasts case on Friday as they received a dramatic video footage which shows a man, around 40 years old, fleeing the train’s S3 coach on Platform 9 at Chennai Central Railway Station just seven minutes prior to the blast. The man was seen in wearing casual trousers and a shirt and not carrying any baggage.

CB-CID inspector general of police Mahesh Kumar Agarwal, who is heading the probe, informed media that this man is now a prime suspect in the case.

“He was clearly in a hurry to get away from the spot. Footage from other security cameras show that the suspect did not return,” an investigating officer said.

Meanwhile Tamil Nadu CB-CID and the Karnataka police that are jointly probing the Thursday’s twin blasts, which killed a woman and injured 14 others.

The investigators have found similarities between Thursday’s attack and 2010 Chinnaswamy Stadium blasts, 2013 blast BJP office in Malleswaram, Bangalore and this year’s serial blast in Patna.

Sources are telling that investigators are also considering Indian Mujahideen’s role in this Chennai blast.

“NIA sleuths seized some explosives after the arrest of Yasin Bhatkal. A cross-check with NIA showed us that the explosives were similar. We suspect that the explosives may have been smuggled from the Karnataka coast,” an investigating officer told a newspaper.

Agarwal also informed reporters that they have not yet recognized any link between the arrested Sri Lankan national, Zakir Hussain, a suspected ISI operative and Thursday’s the twin blast.
