Approximately four days after the Indian Coast Guard intercepted a Pakistani fishing vessel reportedly carrying arms and other heavy explosives from Karachi off the south-western coast of Porbandar, Gujarat, the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (MSA), with a view to retaliate as perceived, has seized two Indian fishing trawlers near the International Maritime Boundary Line off Jakhau Port, as said by Times Now.
The two boats namely Jhelelal and Jalram, with twelve fishermen aboard, were seized by the Pakistani authorities on Saturday night. While the Indian Foreign office seemed to have no knowledge about the abduction, the leader of the Fishermen Association in Porbandar, Manish Lodhari confirmed the news stating that a message had been received by them from the MSA explaining the same.
This has been a regular characteristic between the two nations. However, in regards with the previous incident, the seizure has acquired greater profile and is being perceived as a counter-reaction. Meanwhile, ambiguity continues about the earlier intercepted trawler and its consequence, with the Indian authorities thoroughly convinced about some serious operation while the Pakistani officials refusing the same.
The seizure has also caused another stream of allegations between the two major political parties of India, the Congress and the BJP, with the former accusing the latter of doing ‘politics’.
