Pakistani doctors said that the reports of Sarabjit Singh’s brain death is not true and he remains in extremely critical condition in Lahore’s Jinnah hospital.
The head of the medical board constituted by Pakistan to monitor Sarabjit Singh’s health said, “His condition continues to be serious but he has not been declared brain dead.”
Meanwhile the widespread reports have claimed that Indian death row prisoner Sarabjit Singh may be brain dead and on life support system. The reports further said that Sarabjit Singh’s sister Dalbir Kaur is informed about the situation and she is returning to India to seek further advice.
“Spoke to Dalbir Kaur in Pakistan, she said that doctors have told her Sarbajit’s brain is dead,” Rajkumar Veerka, Vice Chairman, SC & ST Commission, tweeted.
India meanwhile asked Pakistan to send Sarabjit Singh to India so that he could be treated better. Indian government also demanded punishment for those who had attacked Sarabjit Singh.
Ministry of External Affairs issues a statement saying, “In view of the recent tragic events and present circumstances, we once again appeal to the Government of Pakistan to take a sympathetic and humanitarian view of this case, and release Sarabjit Singh.”
