BJP president Nitin Gadkari has threatened to sue Congress General Secretary Digvijaya Singh for defamation for his remark on alleged coal block allocation.
Digvijaya Singh had repeatedly said that Nitin Gadkari had a business deal with BJP’s Rajya Sabha MP and industrialist Ajay Sancheti over a coal mine in Madhya Pradesh. Both Gadkari and Sancheti denied Singh’s accusation.
Digvijaya Singh had said in a media interview, “Ajay Sancheti, BJP MP and close aide and business partner of Nitin Gadkari has been given coal block in single bidding while no allocations are done in single bidding leading to losses in crores.”
Coalgate or Coal blocks allocation scam is said to be the biggest corruption in the independent India. The Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) has alleged that the UPA government had allocated coal blocks to the private players illegally from 2004-2009, causing loss of Rs 1.86 lakh crore approximately. Principal opposition party BJP has demanded resignation of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh as he headed the coal ministry at that time.
