Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has written a letter to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressing his satisfaction with meeting him.
“I must say that I have returned much satisfied with our meaningful exchange of thoughts on matters of bilateral and regional interest,” Sharif wrote in the letter.
With this letter, Nawaz Sharif put end to all speculations regarding his assessment of the meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Earlier Pakistani media claimed that Sharif was “not too happy” with the meeting. Islamabad has, however, maintained their position by saying the meeting was “better than expected”.
“I look forward to working with you in harmony on all unsettled matters for the benefit of both nations. Hope that our endeavors will lay the foundation of a much brighter future,” Sharif said in the letter which was delivered to Modi by the Pakistan high commission.
Echoing Modi’s vision, Sharif said, “It is the millions living in poverty in both countries who deserve our foremost attention. I firmly believe that in our concerted efforts lies the welfare and prosperity of our two nations.”
Earlier Sharif had sent a sari to Modi’s mother and an ethnic suit for Modi. Both the leaders are expected to meet on the sidelines of UN General Assembly in New York in September.
