In his address to the Japanese investors, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said there will be no red tape but red carpet for them.
“I have come to assure you that there is no Red Tape but Red Carpet in India. We have eased off lot of regulations,” Modi said in Tokyo.
“You please come manufacture and make in India…we will ensure you have whatever you need for that,” he said at the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
“Just as India is focusing on Look East policy, we expect a Look at India policy from Japan,” Modi said to the fully-packed hall.
Referring India’s three vital ‘Ds” — democracy, demography and demand – Modi said, “India is the only place which has democracy, demography and brain at one place. I have come here to assure you that if you have to look anywhere outside Japan, you do not need to look here or there.”
“There are more than 50 cities in India that are waiting to get metro rail projects… have you ever seen such business in one country in this one sector?” he said.
Modi has assured Japanese investors of speedy clearances for their projects.
“Like ‘Made in Japan’, we aim to turn ‘Made in India’ into a brand,” he said adding, “When I was young, if it was said ‘Made in Japan’ we did not have to think twice. We would buy the product.”
“We want to encourage and invite SMEs, small scale industries. India has a government that is working on development and aims to increase manufacturing,” he said
As Japan promised to invest around 35 billion dollars in next 5-years in India, Modi said, “Like India has a ‘Look East’ Policy it seems Japan has ‘Look at India’ policy.”
Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said Japan will invest heavily in Indian infrastructure sectors and other projects including the cleaning of the Ganga, high-speed bullet trains and the development of smart cities.
