In his first rally in Kolkata, BJP’s prime ministerial candidate, Narendra Modi, has attacked West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC leader Mamata Banerjee for lack of development in the state.
He also launched a fierce attack on the Left parties, especially on CPI(M) for its 34-year ill-governance in the state.
With Kolkata rally Modi has begun the election campaign in West Bengal on Wednesday. He asked people to vote BJP if they want progress and development in the country and in the state.
“India will only become a world leader if Bengal becomes the national leader,” Modi said.
“I promise you if you welcome BJP in Bengal, I will undo what has been done to Bengal in last 60 years,” he said.
Evoking the Bengali sentiment Modi said Congress should have made Pranab Mukherjee, Prime Minister after the death of Indira Gandhi.
“Pranab Mukherjee should have been made the PM after Indira Gandhi’s assassination,” Modi said adding, “The family (Gandhi) denied Pranab Mukherjee the chance to become Prime Minister in 1984 and 2004.”
Modi also ruled out the possibility of third front after the 2014 general election.
“Time has come to bid farewell to Third Front forever,” Modi said.
“The idea behind Third Front is to make India a third-rate country. Eastern states have remained backward due to Third Front parties,” he added.
