Prime Minister Narendra Modi has met Chinese President Xi Jinping on Tuesday on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit at Fortaleza in Brazil.
In nearly 80 minutes meeting, both the leaders discussed various important bi-lateral issues including the need to resolve the Sino-India border dispute. Prime Minister expressed India’s desire to continue to work to find a solution in amicable way.
External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin told reporters, “The discussions were centred on all aspects of bilateral relations and regional and international matters. If I were to summarize the meeting, I would say – ‘Baat bhi achhi huyi mulaqat bhi achhi huyi (the talks and the meeting went on well).”
Akbaruddin was quoted President Xi as saying that “when India and China meet, the world watches us.”
China has also invited India to attend a summit of Asia and Pacific (APEC) leaders which New Delhi will consider. Also President Xi has invited Mr Modi to visit China, which was accepted. The date will be decided later.
