Gujarat Chief Minister and BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi launched a brutal attack on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi on Sunday in his first public rally in Delhi ahead of the state election.
Referring Rahul Gandhi as ‘Shahzada’, Modi said ‘This country can’t run on the whims of a shahzada’. He said that Delhi is ruled by not one government, but governments within government. One of the mother, one of the son, one of the son-in-law, one of the Prime Minister.
“There are governments within governments… maa ki sarkar, bete ki sarkar… damaad ki sarkar… coalition partners ki sarkar,” Modi said.
He said India needs to decide whether the country will follow Constitution or shahzade (Rahul).
“pariwarshahi (family) is smothering lokshahi (democracy)”, he said
“I now want to ask the other Congress stalwarts if they want to follow the Constitution or shahzade,” Modi asked.
Modi was more dreadful attacking Manmohan Singh. He said Rahul’s diminishing the office of the Prime Minister encouraged Pakistani PM Nawaz Sharif to make disgraceful comments about Singh. Sharif had compared Manmohan Singh with “village woman”.
“Nawaz Sharif, ye aapki kaun si aukat hai which allowed you call Singh dehati aurat (how did Nawaz muster the courage to say this). There cannot be a bigger insult of India and its prime minister. This nation of 1.25 billion will not tolerate its prime minister’s insult,” Modi said to the huge and energatic crowd.
“In crude language, I just want to say that Congress vice-president ne pagdi uchaal di hai (Singh has been humiliated by),” Modi added.
Amidst huge crowds, (police estimated around 4 lakh) and “Modi Modi” chants, Gujarat Chief Minister said congress is a corrupt party with ‘dirty team’ who are devoted to ‘Gandhi notes’.
“For UPA government, Gandhibhakti is worshipping wads of Rs 1000 notes,” he said.
“This government is mired in corruption. Instead of finding solutions to problems, it has stopped functioning. This government is paralyzed. The UPA government is immersed in Gandhi-bhakti. The Gandhi-bhakti refers to currency notes which they are collecting in tonnes,” he added.
Mocking Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dixit, Modi said she has only one job and that to cut the ribbons.
“Other than ribbon cutting and blame game, the Delhi Chief Minister has nothing much to do. During the gang-rape incident, she said, being a mother I advise girls to return home early. Is she not responsible? Does she not have duties towards this? Delhi Chief Ministers are not accountable for what they do neither are they responsible. All they do is play the blame game,” Modi said.
Modi said in 2014 India needs a dream team, not a dirty team.
