Nagaland Governor V Purushothaman resigns

Nagaland Governor Vakkom Purushothaman has resigned on Friday. He has sent his resignation letter to President Pranab Mukehrjee.

Slamming the Modi-government, Purushothaman said, “I did not like the way I was transferred. Governors cannot be transferred like clerks.”

His resignation came after the government has transferred him from Mizoram to Nagaland on Sunday.

“Governor’s post is a constitutional post and they should not be transferred like clerks or lower level officers. Whichever government does it whether UPA or NDA, it’s not right,” Purushothaman, a former Congress leader, said.

Earlier home ministry transferred Gujarat Governor Kamala Beniwal to Mizoram.
