Prime Minister Narendra Modi has stated that India would stand by Bangladesh ‘always’ and continue to walk the path together.
In an hour-long speech organised by the University of Dhaka shortly before his departure for New Delhi at the end of his two-day visit to Bangladesh on Sunday, he praised the host nation for making remarkable progress “despite obstacles.” “India rejoices in Bangladesh’s success,” he emphasised. Around 1000 civil society members had gathered at the Bangabandhu International Conference who cheered for the PM and termed him to be a ‘visionary’ and ‘outspoken’. In his typical style, Modi began his address by saying in Bangla “Kemon aachen Bangladesh?”
His take on the issue of terrorism was strong and fierce with him further stating that “Tourism unites the world while terrorism divides… let’s promote tourism.” “I was very happy to hear Sheikh Hasina say Bangladesh has zero tolerance for terrorism” he concluded.
