Modi charms Indo-American crowd at Madison Square Garden

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rockstar-like performance enthralls thousands of India-American on Sunday at the Madison Square Garden in New York City.

To hear what Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi would speak to the reputed Indo-American community, more than 25 influential US congressmen including the governors and senators were present at the venue. It was such unprecedented gathering at the Madison Square Garden.

With the chants like “Bharat Mata ki Jai” and “Modi, Modi, Modi”, the arena was filed with around 20,000 enthusiast NRI, coming all the way from different parts of the US.

Modi greeted the NRIs with Navratri wish and thanked them for unparalleled love and support.

In his historical speech before Indo-American community, the Prime Minister was again able to connect with the crowd with his trademark orator skills and witty sense of humour. He joked how India which was once regarded as a land of snake-charmers was now spinning the world around its finger with a mouse (computer). He lauded India’s talents, complimenting successful Mars mission which cost seven rupees a kilometre when auto fare in Ahmedabad would take 10 rupees a kilometer.

In his one-hour long speech Modi talked about India’s potential to become a superpower and promised a clean India by implementing effective and ease governance.

Modi said that India had three strengths which no country in the world has: Democracy, demographic dividend, and demand.

Calling US a ‘natural partner’, Modi said America was home to people from every corner of the globe, while Indians live every part of this world.

”I will clear this debt, I will make an India of his dreams,” he promised in front of captivated audience.

PM Modi also made some promises to the Indian community in his speech:-

# Life time visas for persons of Indian origin (PIO) cardholders
# PIO and OCI cards to be merged and will introduce of new common card
# US nationals to get long term visas and visa on arrival
# Those who come to India for long stay will not have to report periodically at police stations
