Slamming Aam Aadmi Party’s attitude towards women, the prominent founding member Madhu Bhaduri has quit Arvind Kejriwal’s AAP on Sunday.
In an interview with NDTV, Madhu Bhaduri said AAP does not treat women as humans.
“I have just one issue, and that is humanity. And women are humans. In this party, women are not considered humans,” said Bhaduri.
“The party has a mentality of a khap panchayat. There is no space for women. If the other women leaders have any self-respect, they will quit too,” she added.
Reportedly Ms Bhaduri wanted the party to issue an apology to the African women whom the Delhi Law Minister Somnath Bharti had heckled but her proposal was rejected and was allegedly humiliated at the party meet.
“The party has changed for the weight of votes. They just want to win the elections,” Madhu Bhaduri said.
The party, however, rejected Bhaduri’s claim. Party member Ashutosh said that AAP do respect women.
“It is not necessary for an individual opinion to be party’s opinion. Women are respected the most by the party,” Ashutosh said.
