While speaking at an inauguration ceremony of two hydroelectric power projects in the Ladakh, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday thanked people of Leh and Ladakh for extending support to him.
Addressing a gathering in Leh, the prime minister assured people of all kind of help for the development in the region. He said his government put special focus at Leh on solar energy initiative.
“There was a time when PMs never visited this state. I have come here two times already. Your affection draws me here,” Modi said adding, “After a very long time this place is seeing such a large gathering of people.”
“I know the problems people face and most importantly I know the strength of this land. Development must be such that it positively transforms the lives of the common people,” Modi said.
The Prime Minister said he will fulfill Atal Behari Vajpayee’s dream of connectivity to Jammu and Kashmir.
“The government is committed to developing tourism here. There will be a saffron revolution in Jammu and Kashmir. We are going to fulfil the dream of Atal Bihari Vajpayee,” he promised.
After inaugurating Leh-Srinagar transmission line and Nimmo-Bazgo hydro electric project in Leh, Modi said, “Now Leh will get its own power. We have put Leh at the focus of our solar energy initiatives. It can generate as much solar energy as Gujarat.”
“Prakash, Paryavaran and Paryatan (light, environment, tourism), the three-P formula for Leh-Ladakh,” Narendra Modi said.
In his day-long visit, the Prime Minister has also address troops posted in Leh. He praised the jawans for their service to the nation. He also said that there will be no compromise on Siachen.
In his speech, the prime minister raised concerns on the corruption in the system which hampers development.
“There are also honest officers. We will work with them too. If we win the fight against corruption we will win battle against poverty,” Modi said, adding, “Corruption is troubling us. People are angry. I assure that we will fight corruption & work with all those against corruption.”
“We want to make jobs available for the youth. We want educational institutions for the youth,” he said.
“We need to bring a saffron revolution and that is giving impetus to Kesar. Special attention should be placed to farmers,’ he further said.
