Rajya Sabha passed crucial Land Acquisition Bill on Wednesday which will allow fair compensation to the farmers while acquiring lands peacefully. The bill will ensure farmers safety and cannot be taken lands forcibly. The bill was passed by 131-10 votes with four new proposed amendments.
Lok Sabha already passed the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Bill, 2012.
For Public Private Partnership (PPP) projects the bill proposed minimum 70% consent prior to acquire land and for private companies, it will be required 80% consent.
The compensation would be up to four times the market value in villages and around two times the in town and cities.
