The infamous ‘pepper spray’ MP Lagadapati Rajagopal has resigned from Parliament on Tuesday and said he is quitting politics.
“I’m hurt as Telugu-speaking people are divided now. It is a sad day. I have lost interest in politics,” Rajagopal told PTI on Tuesday.
The suspended Congress MP was among 16 MPs from the Seemandhra who had been protesting against the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh to create a spate state of Telangana in the Parliament. Last week while protesting in the Lok Sabha he splashed pepper spray in the house which led to huge ruckus and followed by suspension of the MPs. He later said he used pepper-spray in self-defence.
The 53-year-old Lagadapati Rajagopal, MP from Vijayawada, is one of the richest MPs of the country with over 299 crores to his name till 2009.
