Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal has hit out at BJP on Tuesday, alleging its ‘dirty tricks’ in delaying the government formation in Delhi.
“They don’t have the numbers and they are delaying elections. If they had any confidence at all, they would have formed a government five months ago,” Kejriwal said.
In 70-member assembly, BJP has originally 31 MLAs, but three of its MLAs contested in Lok Sabha polls and won. It is still not clear whether BJP will form the government or not. It has been eight months since former chief minister Arvind Kejriwal had resigned over Jan Lokpal Bill and Delhi is under President’s rule.
Slamming the union government, the Supreme Court on Tuesday said, “In a democracy, President’s Rule cannot go on forever.”
A bench headed by Chief Justice of India HL Dattu criticised government’s delaying tactics by saying, “Every time, just before a hearing, the Centre will come out with some statement, but nothing happens. We have given enough time but nothing came out.”
According to some reports, BJP is waiting to see the by-poll results which to be held on 25 Nov before taking any calls on whether to dissolute the assembly and go ahead for fresh polls or form the minority government.
