Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa has announced a pre-poll alliance with the Left parties in the state and evokes possibility of a third front after the election.
“AIADMK and CPM have entered into alliance for Lok Sabha polls. We expect it will be very successful,” Jayalalithaa said.
AIADMK Chief Jayalalithaa has also emerged as the possible Prime Ministerial candidate for this so-called non-BJP no-Congress alliance along with Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
“If the alliance succeeds, prospects are open to her,” CPI leader AB Bardhan confirmed at Chennai.
“PM issue will come later. Our aim is to work together,” Jayalalithaa said.
Jayalalithaa’s move has been seen as a tactical and opportunistic. She, one hand is Narendra Modi’s supporter but on the other hand she has her own ambition to become the prime minister of the country. So, it would be a fascinating scenario to watch how the multiple contenders for Prime Ministership functions as one unit in third front.
