Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh hits out at the people who “romanticise Maoists”.
Jairam Ramesh told CNN-IBN there is a need for a better strategy to tackle Maoist threat.
“There has to be tough security and police action in the state. Secondly, you need to have a deeper political mobilisation by mainstream parties. You also need to redress the injustices,” Jairam Ramesh said.
The minister admitted that morefocused development in the tribal areas is needed and ruled out possibility of a dialogue with Maoists.
“You can have a dialogue with people who want to have a dialogue. Maoists are not here for tribal welfare,” Jairam Ramesh said.
On Tuesday Maoists claimed the responsibility of Saturda masacre in chhattisgarh in which 24 people were killed while a gorup of armed Naxals targeted the Congress convoy during the Parivartan Yatra led by State Congress Party Chief Nand Kumar Patel and Sulwa Judum founder Mahendra Karma.
