India reacted strongly against Lakhvi’s Bail granted by Pakistani court

As expected, India reacted strongly against 26/11 Mumbai attack accused Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi’s bail granted by Pakistani court on Thursday.

India sent a stern message saying it “cannot accept” that Lakhvi would out on bail.

“It will serve as a reassurance to terrorists who indulge in heinous crimes. Let us not forget that the financing of the attack was done in Pakistan,” said Syed Akbaruddin, spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs.

He said that Pakistan has been informed of “the sentiments across the spectrum of Indian society that that this will make a mockery of Pakistan’s commitment to fight terror groups without hesitation and without making distinctions.”

Home Minister Rajnath Singh said”This decision is unfortunate. I believe Pakistan didn’t do enough; India has provided enough evidence (on Lakhvi’s role in the 26/11 attacks).”

Singh said Pakistan should appeal in a higher court to “cancel the bail.”

Under pressure Pakistan government has said it will appeal against the bail.

Lashkar-e-Taiba commander Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi has been accused of being mastermind behind the 26/11 terror attack on Mumbai in 2008. A court in Islamabad granted him bail saying prosecution had not been provide enough evidence against him.
