India declared Pakistan a “No School-Going Mission” and asked its staff members in Islamabad either to return back home or send their kids to India for further studies. Many of the staff at the High Commission have started sending their kids back home.
The decision was taken by Ministry of External Affairs in 2015 after the attack on children at the Army Public School in Peshawar. However, MEA has not explained clearly why that delay happened and what changes now in terms of asking the kids to come back home. Some sources in the MEA said that government is concerned over the security of its staffs in Pakistan following the growing IS supports and fundamentalist rise in that country.
“It is a normal practice for all countries to review staffing and related policies for their diplomatic missions, including in view of prevailing circumstances at those stations. With effect from this academic session, officials posted in the High Commission of India in Islamabad have been advised to make arrangements for education of their wards outside Pakistan, till further notice,” an MEA statement said:
Although the Ministry of External Affairs downplay this news, but it will surely escalate further tension between this two neighbours.
