Terming the Modi-government’s land acquisition bill as ‘anti-farmer’, social activist Anna Hazare pledged to fight against it in the capital. The activist has also indicated for agitation at a greater level at the Ramlila Maidan if the government did not pay immediate attention on the issue.
On 29 December last year, the government had suggested promulgation of an ordinance highlighting greater changes in the Land Acquisition Act, including the removal of clause regarding the consent over PPP projects, development of rural infrastructure and else. A small bunch of farmers from Haryana, apparently, has joined Anna in his agitation at Jantar Mantar on Monday for the immediate withdrawal of the amendments.
The veteran social activist has further remarked that the two-days long protest would be followed by a ‘padyatra’ of over 3-4 months, across the length and breadth of the nation to increase awareness among the people regarding the situation and the plight of farmers.
Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal joined in to support Hazare with his crew comprising of 66 legislators on Tuesday afternoon at the venue, after a long fall-out period.
Anna Hazare has been very critical about the amendment in the act the new government has made.
