Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a yet another provoking speech, denounced the practice of female foeticide and severely criticized sex discrimination on Thursday, stating that gender bias reflects nothing else but ‘mental illness’ and displays a narrow mindset.
The campaign ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ [Save daughter, Educate Daughter] began in the state of Haryana which records one of the poorest sex-ratio in the nation; with the PM further slamming the medical practitioners and doctors indulging in the heinous acts of foeticides.
Modi further gave an example of a boy named Prince and how he had accidentally slipped in a pit eight years ago with the entire nation watching the rescue operation on their TV sets and earnestly praying for his survival. He criticized the view towards girl children and further said that had it been a girl fallen, it wouldn’t have caused a huge stir in the country.
Similarly, many other instances were quoted by the PM in his fiery speech.
In anticipation, the government of Haryana has left no stone unturned to make the campaign a big hit. As the PM delivered the speech, the dias saw the presence of many other dignitaries like the Chief Minister of Haryana, Manohar Lal Khattar, the ambassador of the campaign, Madhuri Dixit and several other leaders.
