The case mysterious death of socialite Sunanda Pushkar, late wife of the Congress MP and the ex- Minister of State for Human Resource Development, Shashi Tharoor, has taken a new turn as the Delhi police have registered a fresh case of murder based on a medical report stating the death was unnatural and that it had occurred due to food poisoning.
According to official sources, many queries had been sent to the AIIMS Autopsy board which came out with a conclusive report stating that ‘homicide could not be ruled out in the matter’. Although there are no suspects named as yet, the police have formed a special team to investigate into the matter. However, ambiguity remains on whether the poison was administered to her orally or injected.
The police further asserted that everybody related to the case, including Mr Tharoor, would be questioned.
The dramatic twist that this case took on Tuesday left Mr Tharoor stunned, according to reports, though he continues to say that he is ready to extend full cooperation to the investigators.
Sunanda Pushkar’s death emerged as a great controversy in 2014 after she was found dead in room number 345 of the renowned Leela Palace in Chanakyapuri, New Delhi by Tharoor.
