Kerala based Congress daily ‘Veekshnam’ has snapped Shashi Tharoor for writing “love letters” to Prime Minister Narendra Modi through social network and “adulatory articles in edit pages.”
Although it did not mention his name but it was absolutely clear that “Veekshnam” targeted Tharoor for his alleged closeness to Modi.
The editorial, which comes a day after state Congress leaders asked him to stop praising PM Modi or he will face disciplinary action, said “loyalty of anyone who pens love letters to Modi through social media and writes adulatory articles in edit pages will be suspected.”
The Congress leaders are fumed that Tharoor agreed to be a part of Modi’s Swachh Bharat or Clean India campaign.
The article said it was surprised that a spokesperson of the Congress was “eulogising Modi” and “seeking campus selection from the BJP by sitting in the Congress camp is nothing but sheer betrayal of trust.”
Tharoor has, however, denied his proximity with BJP and Modi, and said he was a “proud Congressman”.
