The Congress on Saturday slammed Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi for rejecting party’s demand to get the post of Leader of the Opposition in the parliament.
Attorney General had reportedly advised the Speaker Sumitra Mahajan that Congress was not entitled to get the post as it did not have 10% strength of total Lok Sabha.
Congress leader Anand Sharma said because Rohatgi a “political appointee, he has compulsion “to please the political masters.”
His justification to deny the office of Leader of Opposition to the Congress cannot stand the scrutiny of law,” Sharma accused.
Congress president Sonia Gandhi had recently said, “We are the single largest party and we have a pre-poll alliance. Hence, we are entitled to get the post of leader of opposition in Lok Sabha.”
