The Congress has formed a screening committee months before the 2014 Lok Sabha polls and brings back former railway minister Pawan Kumar Bansal with given huge responsibility. Bansal, who had to quit railway ministry following recruitment scam, is a surprise member of the screening panel. He has been given charges of Gujarat and Rajasthan along with Daman and Diu and Dadar and Nagar Haveli.
Other members of the committee are:
Sports Minister Jitendra Singh and he will look after Uttar Pradesh.
Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde will take charge of Bihar, West Bengal, Assam and Andaman Nicobar.
PC Chacko has been given charges to Delhi, Chandigarh, Haryana and Punjab.
Bhubaneshwar Kalita will head Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Jammu and Kashmir.
Senior minister V Narayanasamy will look after Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Sikkim and Tripura.
Mallikarjun Kharge is head of Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Mumbai.
Vayalar Ravi heads for Andhra Pradesh, Goa and Karnataka.
Ghulam Nabi Azad will take care Kerala, Lakshadweep, Puducherry and Tamil Nadu.
Oscar Fernandes is in charge of Odisha, Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand.
