Finance minister P Chidambaram has raised doubts on the smooth functioning of the parliament. He said except the vote-on-account, any key legislations are unlikely to be passed in the last session of the current parliament which to be end on February 21.
“If Parliament does not meet to pass laws, and beginning today you will see Parliament will meet, but I doubt whether it will pass any law,” Chidambaram said on Wednesday.
“We have to go through the ritual of attending Parliament everyday and come back empty handed,” he added.
Chidambaram told reporters that he is sure that Finance Bill, Vote-on-Account and Appropriation Bill will be passed. However he wants a debate on the bills.
“…but if it is passed without debate or discussion, I won’t be happy. I want it to pass with discussion and debate,” the finance minister said.
It is likely that Telangana issue will again storm the parliament session and not much functions are expected to take place.
